ADVANCED
PLANNING
WHAT IS A PREARRANGED FUNERAL?
Funeral
pre-arrangement is simply the arrangement of a
funeral before it is needed.
It is a practical
way of setting out your wishes or the wishes of
someone for whom you are responsible.
These arrangements
can be made by appointment with any one of our family
of licensed funeral directors either at the funeral
home or at your residence.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF
PRE-PLANNING?
Prearranging a
funeral is a practical idea and is a part of sensible
estate planning.
Planning ahead not
only helps to ensure that your wishes are fulfilled,
but it also helps eliminate many of the decisions
that must be made at an often difficult and emotional
time.
By discussing plans
in advance you can take all the time you need to make
the most appropriate decisions regarding the type of
ceremony and the burial procedures that you would
prefer.
We believe that in
many cases people will spend less money when
pre-planning a funeral than if it is done at the
emotionally charged time immediately following a
death.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN
PREARRANGING A FUNERAL?
First you must
contact your Funeral Director of choice and set up an
appointment.
You then sit down
with your Funeral Director and discuss all of your
wishes, beliefs and concerns regarding what you would
like your funeral to be and how it is to be carried
out. All of your questions will be answered openly
and honestly.
Among the things
that will be discussed will be the services and
merchandise desired, the costs involved and the
provision of statistical information.
Other details may
include, but are not limited to, the type of music to
be played(if any), the method of disposition, type of
clothing, length of visitation and any other special
instructions.
CAN A PREARRANGED FUNERAL BE
PAID IN ADVANCE?
Yes you can pay in
advance, but there are no requirements to prepay when
you prearrange a funeral. You can simply leave a
written request form with the funeral home without
paying and without obligation to pay. If you do pay
in advance, under provincial law the money must be
deposited in a trust fund and can be refunded at any
time, with written direction to the funeral home.
